Le climat de Lanzarote
|
Lanzarote enjoys a mild dry climate with average daytime temperatures ranging from about 21°C in January to 29°C in August. Annual rainfall is just 140mm (5.5 inches). This makes Lanzarote the perfect year-round destination. During the winter it gets chilly in the evenings and the sea temperature drops. Rainfall in the summer months is almost non-existent, but showers are likely between October and April. |
|
Lanzarote is an island with an ideal climate to practice outdoor activities all year round. Like at the other Canary Islands, in summer the trade winds help to cool the temperature avoiding the suffocating heat so characteristic of other areas.
To all this we must add that the island is one of the best places on earth to observe volcanoes as, due to the arid climate, the landscape varies very slightly. The vegetation is very scant unlike other places with a rainy tropical climate which gives rise to more lush vegetation.
Other aspects to underline are the ravines in the northern part of the island with their characteristic microclimates, which enables us to appreciate flora, which is largely endemic. There are spectacular volcanic tubes, which can be visited, and lots of other peculiarities too.
